Cirrhosis is the late stage of scarring (fibrosis) of the liver caused by many forms of liver diseases, such as hepatitis and chronic alcoholism.

 Each time the liver gets damaged it tries to repair itself. Scar tissuesare formed in this process. Peripheral, scar tissuesare formed with the progress ofCirrhosis.It becomes very strenuous for the liver to function properly and decompensate cirrhosis which leads to advanced cirrhosis, which is life-threatening. The liver once damaged can't be undone, but if liver cirrhosis is diagnosed at an early stage further damage can be limited and, rarely, reversed.
